23: Let's TALK about sex!!

Do you feel uncomfortable or ashamed asking for what you want? Maybe you have been with a partner and really wanted to try something different but just the idea of saying "the thing" or maybe the body part, gave you an unpleasant feeling in your body and a closed throat. That is more common than you can imagine, society is not even used to naming ALL the body parts, let alone expressing desires and needs in a confident, open way. That censorship negatively impacts your pleasure and your sexuality. The good news? You can overcome that! In this episode, Erika talks about the importance of talking about sex to help you improve your sexuality, and boost your confidence and the way you communicate with the person you share your sexuality with.

The foundations of a shameless sexuality

We grow up in a society that replaces the names of the sexual organs with "cute" words that are supposed to be easier to say and easier to hear but they are certainly not appropriate. People need to use the right words to name their bodies and deserve to get that education from an early age. Those are the foundations of a confident sexual adult.

If you are not confident thinking and talking about your own body, in a safe environment with a person you trust, for example your partner, you are closing yourself to acknowledging and embodying your wholeness, and your partner's wholeness. You are censoring a natural and exciting part of your existence. You can turn all that around and own your desires, own your expectations, your words and embody a confident shameless woman.

Learning to reclaim all your body parts, and learning to let go of feelings of shame or disgust are the first steps to enjoying more pleasure and living your sexuality freely.

If you are in a long-term relationship or if you enjoy sharing your sexuality, learning to TALK about sex and share your desires will also allow you to hold space for your partner (or partners) to open up and share their fantasies too. Can you imagine what could come out of that level of trust and confidence?

In this episode:

  1. Why is it important to re-invent and reclaim sex education

  2. How censoring yourself affects your confidence and your sexuality

  3. The benefits of talking more about sex

  4. What you can do to be more open toward the sexual nature of human existence and learn to talk about it the way you talk about any other human need.
