64: Embracing your inner witch: remembering forgotten reproductive health and natural fertility awareness practices – interview with Siri Kalla

If you are inspired to explore and researched your options in reproductive health and natural fertility awareness methods, then this episode is for you!

In this episode, Erika’s guest is Siri Kalla. A modern witch (according to Erika), who teaches women all around the world how to understand their menstrual cycles, learn safe natural birth control, and learn how to truly nourish their bodies into resolving menstrual cycle health and fertility problems.

Siri was born in Sweden but lives in Norway. Her work originates around menstrual cycle health and fertility from a functional medicine approach - meaning that she looks for root causes rather than just treating the symptoms.

At the core of Siri’s work is the wish to give menstruating people full sovereignty over their bodies. Understanding the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menstrual health is a human right and a basic necessity for a truly feminist society.

She has been on her own journey of healing, understanding and befriending her menstrual cycle since 2009, took my certification as a Holistic Reproductive Health Practitioner at @justissecollege between 2013-2017, and founded Our Fertility in 2018 to be a container for this work.

While discussing Siri's work, the conversation delves into the historical persecution of female power, embodied sovereignty, and wisdom held by women, midwives, and witches.

In this episode:

  1. The historical background that set the stage for the current modern medical system, and how it impacts the knowledge we have about fertility.

  2. The weaknesses and issues with the current Western medical system in regards to female reproductive health, and the benefits of alternative methods.

  3. Siri's work in functional medicine and her wish to give menstruating people full sovereignty over their bodies.

  4. The importance of understanding the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menstrual health as a human right and basic necessity for a truly feminist society.

  5. The availability of natural fertility awareness methods, such as the Justisse Method, and Billings Method, as alternatives to conventional medicine options.
